A meeting with the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Antti Karttunen, took place at the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms.
The meeting was devoted to identifying priority areas of co-operation and establishing a mechanism for co-ordinating joint activities in the field of good governance. Opening the talks, the parties expressed a shared interest in developing practical engagement and exchanging expert experience.
During the talks, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator familiarised the participants with the office’s key priorities for 2026 and outlined the areas planned for implementation in 2027 in the field of good governance. Emphasis was placed on current and prospective initiatives being carried out in Uzbekistan, including a regional project covering matters of good governance and open data.
Representatives of the Agency provided information on the mechanism for co-ordinating the implementation of the “Uzbekistan — 2030” Strategy, the system for monitoring its target indicators, and the Agency’s role in ensuring the coherent work of state bodies. The importance of methodologically aligning the activities of the Project Co-ordinator’s office with the Strategy’s priority areas was noted.
The parties discussed the structure of a joint roadmap for 2027—2028, the procedure for its preparation, and the mechanism for state bodies to submit proposals, and also considered areas of engagement within the parties’ respective remits and the conditions for their implementation.
The development of co-operation between the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms and the OSCE creates a solid foundation for strengthening Uzbekistan’s institutional capacity in the field of good governance. Practical engagement between the parties will help to attract advanced international expertise, enhance the effectiveness of public administration, and improve the system for monitoring reforms. In the long term, this will make a significant contribution to the successful implementation of the “Uzbekistan — 2030” Strategy and the achievement of the country’s priority national development goals.
