Exploring the experience of Scandinavian countries in building a socially oriented state is of particular importance for Uzbekistan, as the reforms implemented in these countries represent some of the most successful examples of effective public administration, sustainable development, and a high standard of living.
A meeting with a delegation of the National Board of Trade Sweden (Kommerskollegium) was held at the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The negotiations were led by the First Deputy Director of the Agency, Abdulla Abduqodirov.
The Swedish side was represented by Deputy Head of the Department for Trade and Development Cooperation, Sara Sandelius, and Department Manager, Jenny Ikkelberg.
During the meeting, a comprehensive overview of the reforms being implemented under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was presented. Particular attention was given to enhancing the role of public dialogue, developing strategic planning based on the needs and expectations of the population, and outlining the Agency’s current priorities. Emphasis was also placed on the ongoing efforts to establish a unified system of strategic planning, including its administrative and legislative foundations.
The parties exchanged views on improving the effectiveness of public administration, enhancing the quality of life of the population, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
The discussion also covered issues related to the exchange of experience in the development and implementation of strategic documents, the improvement of public governance mechanisms, and the introduction of modern approaches to planning and evaluating the effectiveness of reforms.
It was particularly noted that, in adapting advanced international practices to Uzbekistan, the experience of leading Scandinavian countries—characterised by a high level of institutional development, transparency, and socially oriented public policy—is of significant importance.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation and agreed to continue dialogue on the exchange of experience and the implementation of effective governance solutions.
