The Director of the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms, Bakhodir Rakhmatov, held an online meeting with members of the International Advisory Council – Alfred Gusenbauer, Aleksander Kwaśniewski and Štefan Füle.
During the discussion, the parties reviewed the current status of cooperation with the Council and summarized the results achieved over the past year.
The recommendations of the international advisers have been reflected in a number of adopted legal acts, including the Presidential Decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 22 October 2025 No. PD –186. Other proposals have been included in draft policy documents, notably the Pension Reform Concept and the Demographic Policy Strategy.
Over the year, working visits of the Uzbek delegation to Austria, Poland and the Czech Republic were organized, as well as visits by the International Advisory Council to regions of Uzbekistan. As a result, measures were implemented to advance “smart infrastructure”, regional cooperation, tourism and education.
Overall, the Council recognized Uzbekistan’s key reforms and welcomed the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement with the European Union, emphasizing that it will provide a solid foundation for further strengthening relations.
During the meeting, prospects and a new format for cooperation with the Council in 2026 were reviewed.
